Hallway
Hallways are high-traffic, common areas within your home and so it is vital that they contain fire safety products. At the very least, smoke alarms must be installed in hallways, especially near sleeping areas, to alert the most people of a fire and as loudly as possible while they are sleeping. All Australian states have legislative requirements for the installation of smoke alarms in properties, and the Building Code of Australia specifies where they should be installed. This includes between bedrooms and the remainder of the dwelling, and where bedrooms are served by a hallway, one must be installed in that hallway. (If people in your home sleep with the bedroom door closed, it is highly recommended to install additional smoke alarms in bedrooms as well).
